Did You Know PTs Can Do That?

The American Physical Therapy Association’s (APTA) vision statement is,Transforming society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience.

That is a rockstar vision statement. When you think about health and human experience, how well you move is high up on the list for life satisfaction. So Physical Therapists (PTs) should be healthcare rockstars, right?

In an ideal world, yes. PTs go to school for a long time to bring out the very best in you. For a brief overview, PTs are specially trained in biomechanics and physiology needed to bring out peak athletic performance. They are trained in pain science and communication to teach people to overcome the barriers of chronic pain and inactivity. And they even have the education to act as the primary provider in people’s wellness journey.

Wouldn’t you love someone on hand that could help you be your best physical self? Someone that could help you know how to get in shape without hurting yourself? Wouldn’t you like a healthcare provider who works with you long term to move well and feel good. Not just a medical doctor who suggests you should just “start walking more and don’t eat so much junk.”

So WHY the heck do you not know this? One word…Insurance! Even though PTs have the education to do amazing things to “optimize movement to improve the human experience,” health insurance has sat as the gatekeeper preventing PTs from making the difference they are educated to offer.

Luckily, some PTs are over it. We want you to have full access to the healthcare providers that actually promote health. Performance based PTs (cash practice PTs) are walking away from the insurance gatekeepers because we want to give our best and we want those who aren’t professional athletes or movie stars to have access to all we offer to improve movement.

At first I was nervous to step away from insurance. But over time I realized that people want the most out of their bodies. They are tired of going to the doctor and getting told that they shouldn’t do what the sport they love anymore or given exercise advice that doesn’t make sense to them or for them. People want a healthcare provider that listens, educates, and works with them for thoughtful solutions.

People are taking their healthcare into their own hands and seeking and committing to their health journey with PTs who want to use all of their training, not just the little bit the insurance decides it will pay. So whether you want to improve your golf game, optimize your pelvic health, or start a wellness journey, contact a Performance/Cash-based practice so you can transform yourself by optimizing your movement and improving your life!
